The Vision of the FREEDM Systems Center is to develop an Energy Internet that allows energy generation, storage, and usage to be added and controlled seamlessly at the distribution level of the power system. The vision is realized through the development of critical technologies for a reliable, secure, and resilient power grid utilizing revolutionary power electronics and information technologies, and distributed, automated and robust power, energy, and fault management algorithms. Significant progress across the center’s three research planes of testbeds, enabling technologies, and fundamental science have energized and excited all in moving the FREEDM Center’s mission forward.
